Matar Usal, or Green Peas Curry is a traditional Maharashtrian coconut-based gravy recipe. During the winters when market is flooded with lush green peas, this recipe is made at most homes and relished with Pav or Bread.

Green peas are a good source of protein, they help in fighting inflammation, suppress appetite, promote digestion and support eye health. Fresh coconut, the second main ingredient in this dish, is full of nutrients, loaded with Vitamin B, C, E, also rich in antioxidants and contains high amounts of lauric acid, which is effective in reducing cholesterol levels. Coconut also helps restore damaged hair and acne. Thus, this nutrient-packed Matar Usal is definitely healthy apart from being a lip-smacking dish.
