Paneer Jalfrezi is a main course recipe made with cottage cheese and veggies that is simple to make, flavourful yet healthy. This super quick recipe has everything that is mostly readily available at home and doesn’t need a long process to make it taste like a restaurant style dish.

Paneer is such a versatile food item and is a great protein source for vegetarians.  This low-carb, high protein, gluten free recipe is great for all the weight watchers. Paneer Jalfrezi generally has paneer and all the veggies cut lengthwise and is mildly spiced, though you can adjust the taste as per preference. This is a dry version of Paneer Jalfrezi so if you want to make it slightly semi-dry, you can replace chopped tomatoes with tomato puree. This Paneer Jalfrezi can be enjoyed as it is with rotis, naan, rice or will be a great option to use into making some Kathi Rolls too.

  • Cut paneer lengthwise, approx. 1.5 inch long and 1 cm broad. Keep aside.
  • Also cut the vegetables, ginger and green chillies lengthwise.

  • Heat oil in a pan and add cumin, julienned ginger, green and dry red chillies.

  • Then add sliced onions and capsicum. Saute on low-medium flame for 2-3mins till the onion turns soft.

  • Add tomato and again saute till everything is cooked.

  • Now add turmeric, red chilli powder, coriander powder and ketchup. Mix well.

  • To it, add paneer pieces, salt and mix till the paneer is well combined. Then add ½ teaspoon of garam masala.

  • Finish off with some freshly squeezed lemon juice and chopped coriander.
  • Remove and serve!
